Myanmar, also known as Burma, is a country in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand.
It is the 40th largest country in the world and the second largest country in Southeast Asia but ironically most people out there are not aware of its existence.
It has magnificent scenery from ancient pagodas in Bagan, white ice mountains in Kachin State, sandy beaches in Rahkhine and pretty coral reefs in Tanintharyi Division.
Theravada Buddhism is the predominant religion of the country. Be sure to visit Shwedagon Pagoda when you visit Myanmar. A diverse range of indigenous cultures exist and the majority culture is primarily Buddhist and Bamar.
It is rich in natural resources and produces finest rubies, emeralds, gems and teak.
It has undergone major changes in politics and things are turning out to be gradually better. Hope better changes await us in the future.
